The poke wave continues to wash over Boston as another new restaurant specializing in this Hawaiian classic has officially arrived. Poke City is now open at 1722 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge, according to a tip Eater received, and its menu features a variety of signature and customizable bowls.
Poke City took over the former Tisan Coffee Express space, as previously reported, joining Manoa Poke Shop and Pokéworks in serving poke (pronounced poh-kay) to Greater Boston. The restaurant is the work of Hong Qing Chen, a former owner of Lee Chen’s in South Boston.
The restaurant’s menu puts Hawaiian-style poke front and center, with a lengthy menu of toppings and other accompaniments. Bases include rice, zucchini noodles, and salad, or the seafood can be wrapped into a burrito. Poke options include snow crab, chicken, salmon, tuna, tofu, and shrimp, while toppings and accompaniments range from cucumber, mushrooms, avocado, and mango to sesame seeds and onion crisps. There is also a selection of sauces to top off the meal.
