Boston’s beer world is about to get a little bigger with the addition of a brand new brewery in Jamaica Plain. Turtle Swamp Brewing is in the midst of building out a brewery space on Washington Street and has its sights set on a spring 2017 opening, according to a tip Eater received.

Former Harpoon brewer Nicholas Walther and partner John Lincecum are the brains behind Turtle Swamp, and they’re currently working on installing brewery equipment at 3377 Washington St., in addition to raising walls and installing the infrastructure to support a brew house. Turtle Swamp has been documenting the progress of the buildout on its Instagram page.

For years, Sam Adams has dominated the beer scene in Jamaica Plain, but Turtle Swamp will soon join the fray, bringing the number of breweries operating in Jamaica Plain up to two.

Eater has reached out to Turtle Swamp for more details on the buildout and potential brews and will continue to follow the brewery’s progress.
