A Cape Verdean and Portuguese restaurant is among a handful of new places to open in Dorchester within the last few months, and the grand opening celebration drew a crowd, including Dorchester native Mayor Marty Walsh.

Andre and Isabel Gomes are the proprietors of Churrascaria Vulcão, which is now up and running at 203 Adams St. in Fields Corner, serving lunch and dinner, according to the Dorchester Reporter. Dishes include a Portuguese green soup called caldo verde; Cape Verdean-style grilled chicken; beef, pork, and seafood entrees; assorted salads; desserts; and more.

The 46-seat restaurant secured a beer and wine license and will operate from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Among other new additions to the Fields Corner neighborhood is Bambu, a Vietnamese dessert spot set to open at 289 Adams St., down the road from Churrascaria Vulcão.
