A new Kendall Square cafe from the team behind Catalyst will be ready by the end of the year. Construction is officially underway for the appropriately named Catalyst Café, slated for 75 Binney St., and the cafe could open in December.
The concept for the cafe comes from restauranteur William Kovel, who is working with Phase Zero Design for the buildout of the 2,500-square-foot space in the base of the Binney Street Project building. The cafe will be a fast-casual spot for breakfast and lunch, forming its own identity but drawing inspiration from its older sibling. There will likely be breakfast sandwiches, doughnuts, and hot chocolate (among other items) on the menu, Kovel told The Boston Globe.
Catalyst Café will be less than a mile from Catalyst, which opened in Technology Square in 2011, as previously reported.
