A new restaurant has officially opened in an old hot pot spot in Somerville’s Davis Square. OGinger is now serving Japanese cuisine at 263 Elm St., according to a tip Eater received.
The restaurant took over for Yumi Hot Pot, which closed over the summer after opening in November 2015. When word first came of the new spot, Somervillians were promised sushi burritos, and there is indeed a wide selection of mammoth rolls on the menu at OGinger, including tuna, salmon, yellowtail, crab, and vegetable versions.
OGinger also offers a long list of sushi rolls, sashimi, yakitori, noodles and rice, teriyaki, and much more. The restaurant has online ordering and uses local and organic ingredients when possible, without chemical seasonings and additives, according to its website.
A small chain restaurant with locations in California and New York will soon be joining OGinger on Elm Street, right next door at #261. Pokéworks serves its own take on the sushi burrito — a "pokirrito," with a seaweed and rice wrap, poke filling, and assorted other accoutrements.
