A brand new restaurant in Jamaica Plain is proving to be fraught with struggles as reports emerge that it is now closed. Pink Samurai, which opened earlier this month, has papered over its windows and gone dark, Boston Restaurant Talk reports.
Pink Samurai finally opened on September 6, more than a year after the project was first announced and well beyond its estimated opening timeline, with a menu of dumplings, bao, crab rangoon, and more. However, comments on Facebook and elsewhere suggest the restaurant has not been open during posted hours.
The restaurant went through a number of changes leading up to its opening. The original chef, Matt Cunningham (Strip-T's, UpStairs on the Square, The Sinclair, Farmhouse pop-ups), left the project, as previously reported, while Dana Hill signed on as executive chef and Bob Botchie as executive sous chef.
Eater has reached out the restaurant to learn more details about these recent events but has not yet received a response; stay tuned for any updates.
