A restaurant slated to open in a building at the Berklee School of Music area could make its grand debut by the end of the year. Back Bay Beats, aka B3 (a musically appropriate abbreviation), will take full advantage of its surroundings, as previously reported.

B3 will be affiliated with the college, and the large space will showcase live music from both students and visiting musicians, according to a rep for the restaurant. The food at B3 reportedly takes its inspiration from "the multicultural diversity of music," and Hungry Mother alum Nic Swogger will oversee the Southern-inspired and globally-influenced menu. The owners of B3 are also behind two restaurants in Harvard Square, Parsnip and Night Market.

The restaurant will likely be in the school's new building at 160 Massachusetts Ave., as prior filings with the City of Boston's licensing board indicate.

Another new music-centric restaurant is opening near B3, courtesy of the same folks behind The Burren in Somerville's Davis Square: The Bebop, a jazz club, will open later this year at 1116 Boylston St.
