A restaurant near the South End softly opened on Thursday with a menu of classic Cuban cuisine and Havana-inspired decor. Doña Habana opened the doors to its shiny new dining room, marking the end to nearly a year of renovation and design work.

Doña Habana’s owners also operate Vejigantes, a Puerto Rican restaurant in the South End, and Merengue, a Dominican restaurant and catering spot in Roxbury. This newest restaurant opened in the former Rudi's Resto Cafe space in the base of the Hampton Inn, as previously reported.

The restaurant at 811 Massachusetts Ave. in Newmarket Square highlights Cuban cuisine, including items like pulled pork sandwiches, Cuban sandwiches (with pork, ham, and the patented pickles and mustard), assorted soups, tostones, churros, and flan.

Doña Habana will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
