A former Mediterranean restaurant near City Hall will be reborn as an Italian cafe some time this fall. Cafe Artigiano is slated to open at 8 City Hall Ave. soon, according to Downtown Boston BID, replacing Cafe Hemshin in the storefront between School Street and City Hall Square.
Cafe Artigiano will reportedly serve panini, pasta, and other items, in addition to offering catering. The restaurant will seat 34 people and could operate between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., according to a licensing board hearing agenda for the City of Boston.
State filings indicate that the person behind this new cafe has a history of running Italian restaurants in the area. The manager on record for Cafe Artigiano is Altin Hoxhallari, who is also part of the team behind Basta Pasta on Western Avenue in Cambridge, as Boston Restaurant Talk previously reported.
