A North Shore food truck known for its tacos and burritos is all set to open its first permanent restaurant later this week. Metzy’s Cantina will make its grand debut this Friday at the Newburyport MBTA station.
"Getting the Cantina open has been one of the hardest things I have ever been involved in, and to finally see it ready to open feels like no less than a miracle," owner Erik Metzdorf wrote in a Facebook post. "To do this has required what I often refer to as ‘It takes a Village.’ We hired almost exclusively local contractors to get us to the finish-line on the amazing Metzy’s Cantina project we are opening at the NBPT Train Station." He then thanked all those who contributed to the project.
The space will serve as a home base for the Metzy’s truck, as previously reported, and it will revitalize a space that has been somewhat less-than-lively since it was built in 1998, according to The Boston Globe. The restaurant, located at 5 Boston Way, will serve a solid lineup of taqueria-style foods, including assorted tacos, burritos, and salads, plus appetizers (fried tostones, for example), sides, and options for kids. Beer and wine will also be available.
