Gaze Upon Fat Hen, Your New Pasta-Filled Date Night Destination

The East Somerville restaurant opened yesterday

In a blaze of fresh pasta, Fat Hen debuted yesterday inside of La Brasa's former market space in East Somerville. As noted yesterday, L'Espalier and Sel de la Terre alum Michael Bergin is in charge. Non-locally, his resume veers into Italian cuisine with stints at Del Posto and A Voce in New York City, and his debut menu at Fat Hen centers around pasta with dishes like spaghetti with Jonah crab, bacon, and green tomato; rigatoni with rabbit sausage, fava beans, and Caciocavallo cheese; and bucatini with cauliflower, chickpeas, preserved lemon, roasted garlic, and chile.

Above, take a peek into the small space, where dark turquoise paint, light wood, and accent lighting comprise the design scheme. Look closely above the amari shelf at the far end of the dining room, and you'll see a small square window into La Brasa — your cocktails will be passed through that window from the other side.

Fat Hen is open for dinner from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
