A new restaurant is slated to open up in a South End storefront another eatery vacated a few months ago. Le Comptoir will take over 560 Tremont Street, where Kitchen Restaurant used to be, according to filings with the City of Boston licensing board. Kitchen closed back in March.
Le Comptoir, meaning "the counter" in French, will have nearly 2,000 square feet of space with a bar area, ample seating, and a sidewalk cafe. Loic Le Garrec, a native of Brittany, France, is involved, according to the paperwork filed with the city. Le Garrec is also owner and manager of Petit Robert Bistro, which has locations in the South End and Needham, and he is a veteran of restaurants in both New York and Boston.
Le Comptoir could operate on Monday through Thursday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 12 a.m., and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Update, 10/12, 10 a.m.: Le Garrec's new restaurant will reportedly be called Frenchie, not Le Comptior, as the Improper Bostonian reports. It will be a casual wine bar and is on track to open by Thanksgiving.
