A new restaurant from the team behind two popular Caribbean spots in the city is getting ready to open near the South End. Doña Habana will soon serve up Cuban cuisine at 811 Massachusetts Ave. in Newmarket Square, according to a tip Eater received.
The owners of Doña Habana also run Vejigantes, a Puerto Rican restaurant in the South End, and Merengue, a Dominican restaurant and catering spot in Roxbury. They took over the space where Rudi's Resto Cafe used to be in the base of the Hampton Inn, as previously reported.
Doña Habana promises to provide "a taste of Cuba in Boston," and on Facebook, the owners have documented some of the planning, construction, and renovations that went into making the restaurant space suit their needs. Doña Habana could be open within the next few weeks.
