Pizza returns to a building in Somerville’s Union Square this week with the opening of Veggie Crust, a new concept from the team behind Dosa N Curry that will specialize in vegetarian and vegan pies. Veggie Crust has been in the works for months and is finally ready to restore the pizza balance of the block, albeit with no meat and less cheese.
Last August, a utility issue in the building housing Dosa N Curry and A4 Pizza forced the closure of both restaurants. In November, A4 Pizza decided not to reopen at 445 Somerville Ave., and in January, Dosa N Curry finally reopened. Dosa N Curry also took over the A4 space and announced the new Veggie Crust concept, which makes its official debut tomorrow at 11 a.m.
The menu includes some traditional pizzas, like tomato, mozzarella, and vegetable, plus some topping-laden options like paneer tikka barbecue and Hawaiian Manchurian. Veggie Crust's doughs and breads will be made in-house, and the restaurant will also serve pasta, panini, and salads, along with sides, fresh juices, and vegan ice cream.
Veggie Crust will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
