An ice cream trend that has been sweeping the world and taking over Instagram has now finally made its way to Boston. Hi B3ar has started dishing out Thai ice cream rolls in Allston (147 Brighton Ave.), serving the treat with decadent toppings and catering to some big crowds during its opening weekend.
An Instagram user shared a video of some ice cream getting the roll treatment, and Yelp users reported lines out the door. The shop has 10 flavors with customizable toppings available for $6.95 plus tax. The flavors include Cookie Monster (made with Oreos), Matcha Lady (matcha and red beans), Morning Call (coffee with chocolate chips), and others like blueberry, mango, strawberry, and coconut.
Hi B3ar is the first ice cream roll shop of its kind in Boston proper, though a kiosk called Frollz opened at the Square One Mall in Saugus in January.
