A specialty food store on Commonwealth Avenue has shut down less than a year after making its debut in the Allston neighborhood, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Bee’s Knees Supply Company, which launched in Fort Point in 2013 and expanded to Allston last August, confirmed the Allston closure on Twitter, noting that it's been "a wild ride."
The company shared a photo of the space with papered-over windows but did not provide further explanation on the reason behind the closure. Universal Hub also noted the closure. Bee’s Knees was pegged as a neighborhood market that stocked fine foods like cheese, meat, produce, craft beer, and wine. It also served a lineup of breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods, as well as specialty coffee.
Bee’s Knees took over the long-vacant space left by Joshua Tree at 1316 Commonwealth Ave. Eater has reached out to Bee’s Knees for more details on the closure and the status of the Fort Point store, located on Farnsworth Street.
