A board game cafe with its original location in Brookline has crossed the river to Teele Square, where it opened a second location over the weekend. Knight Moves Cafe moved into the space at 1159 Broadway in Somerville, where it serves up coffee and tea for game-playing patrons.

Plans for the Somerville location surfaced in January, and the cafe is designed to seat 17. The pricing for the cafe covers access to the board games (Brookline’s location has nearly 1,000 different games), and guests can purchase day passes for $10 — or for $5 Monday through Wednesday — or a membership for $40, which is good for a full month.

The Brookline location of Knight Moves first opened in Coolidge Corner in 2013. The cafe serves fair-trade coffee and tea for $2, plus root beer, espresso, and Nutella milkshakes. It also serves pastries, grilled cheese panini, and cheese plates.
