A vegan and vegetarian pizza place could open within the next couple of weeks if all goes well with inspections. Veggie Crust, brought to Somerville’s Union Square by the proprietors of Dosa N Curry next door, took over the space after A4 Pizza decided to vacate the neighborhood last fall.
Both Dosa N Curry and A4 were forced to close a while back due to some major utility issues in the building, and while Dosa N Curry reopened its doors in January, A4 opted to depart, leaving the space empty and primed for Veggie Crust to move in. Word of these plans surfaced in March, and the new restaurant promises to serve both vegan and vegetarian pizzas in 12-inch or 16-inch sizes, with gluten-free options, as well as vegan "ice cream," also known as "nice cream."
Some of the menu items guests can expect to see at Veggie Crust include both traditional items like tomato mozzarella and vegetable pizzas, as well as more fully-loaded pies like the paneer tikka barbecue and curry leaf pesto portobello pizzas. Pasta, panini, and salads are also on the menu, in addition to assorted sides and fresh juices.
Located at 445 Somerville Ave., Veggie Crust will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
