A fast-casual burger place near Boston University has closed for good despite previous plans to only temporarily shut down for some renovations, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. BurgerFi, which had cemented itself as a solid source for milkshakes and burgers on Commonwealth Avenue, will not be reopening, and its West Roxbury location permanently closed recently as well.
The location near BU opened in early 2014, bringing the Florida-based chain’s lineup of burgers, hot dogs, frozen custards, and more to the area. The restaurant announced it would close temporarily back in November. Both Massachusetts locations have been removed from the Burger Fi website, and the chain confirmed the closures on Twitter.
Another fast-casual brick-and-mortar has also bid farewell to the Greater Boston area: Walloon’s shuttered its Peabody restaurant, also confirming the closure on Twitter and inviting customers to keep an eye out for the Walloon’s trucks. Walloon’s had opened its restaurant along Route 1 in November.
