After closing four locations in the last year, Boca Grande Taqueria will undergo some changes. Its founder Mariko Kamio, who first opened the business in 1986, has retired and a new owner is taking over, according to Wicked Local.
Silvia Whitman, who spent 25 years working for Boca Grande, has stepped into the ownership role at the restaurant, Boston Magazine reported. She has some menu changes in mind for the restaurant and plans to add a new location in Cambridge.
The core of the menu will remain the same, but Whitman apparently will add new vegetarian options including tofu and salad bowls, as well as fish tacos. There will also be menu specials, and Whitman will work with a handful of delivery companies. A new Cambridge location will be coming sometime in November, she told Wicked Local.
Boca Grande most recently closed its original location on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, and three other locations closed in previous months, leaving one location at 149 First St. in Cambridge.
