A hotel restaurant that abruptly closed at the end of May has already been replaced, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. An employee reached at the Hilton Boston Downtown Hotel near Faneuil Hall confirmed the change and told Eater that the new restaurant called 89 Broad is already up and running in the space where Nix's Mate had been up until last month.
Abner Kurtin, a managing partner of Bostonian Hospitality Group, which operated Nix's Mate, previously told Eater the restaurant would be looking for a new location in the Boston area, with hopes of reopening in the first quarter of 2017. Bostonian Hospitality Group oversees three other restaurants bearing the Nix's name (which is spelled without an apostrophe for some of the venues): a brewpub on Nantucket and two restaurants in Hartford and South Windsor, Conn. The company has plans to add two more restaurants in Connecticut.
The new 89 Broad at the Hilton is open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. seven days a week, according to the hotel website.
