Wine events company Second Glass, which is behind the popular Wine Riot events, opens its first retail location today (Friday, June 3) at 519 Tremont St. in Boston's South End. The doors to the shop, also called Wine Riot, open at 5 p.m., and there will be free t-shirts, pint glasses, and wine keys while supplies last, according to Wine Riot's opening announcement on Instagram.
As previously reported, the Wine Riot store is meant to be a "retail experience" where people can learn about wine (and beer and liquor) in addition to buying bottles. "We want it to be an educational space with charts, maps, and a ton of information about beverages from Massachusetts and around the world," founder and president Tyler Balliet previously wrote on the company's website. "We're going to leverage our mobile technology so you can easily remember everything you taste or buy. With this data we can also make sure we carry the beverages YOU like."
Wine Riot is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. There are daily in-store tastings; check Wine Riot's website for the schedule.
