A popular diner in South Boston will close following service this weekend. My Diner has been in business at 98 A St. for 12 years, but the owners of the building have sold it and it will be torn down soon, according to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Owners Ela and Ben Bashllari opened the place in 2004 and decided to keep the name from the previous owner and live out their dreams of running a diner, as previously reported. In February, the Bashllaris knew the building had been sold and the new owners would be developing condominiums at the space, but they were unsure whether they would close for the duration of the project (an estimated one year) or find a temporary location elsewhere in the city.

"Everyone is looking for us. Basically, the community of South Boston, the people, they eat here. All of them eat here, so they're trying to find us a space for the time being," Ela Bashllari told Eater at the time.

Yesterday's announcement of the closing date suggested that My Diner could reopen in the spring of 2017.
