Cape & Islands Round-Up: A ‘Boat-to-Table’ Seafood Spot; Some Help From Barbara Lynch

SANDWICH — A new seafood-focused restaurant and market called Fishermen’s View is set to open in July at 20 Freezer Rd., reports Zagat, courtesy of Bob and Denny Colbert. The brothers have been fishing out of the Sandwich Marina for decades and recently purchased an adjacent plot of land upon which to open the "boat-to-table" venue, which features marina and canal views. Many of the Colberts’ relatives will also be involved in various capacities, according to Wicked Local Sandwich.

PROVINCETOWN — The Waterford Inn opened its new restaurant, Spindler’s, at the end of May, reports Zagat, and it’s a partnership with Barbara Lynch, whose Boston-based restaurant group includes Menton, No. 9, Sportello, and more. What this partnership means is that Lynch developed Spindler’s menu ("seasonal New England ingredients using classic French technique and Italian soul") — think moules frites, a lobster roll, tuna nicoise, charcuterie, and a raw bar. And that’s not the only assistance provided by the Barbara Lynch Gruppo: Drink general manager Ezra Star created Spindler’s bar program.

Spindler’s is located at 386 Commercial St. in Provincetown’s East End. The restaurant is named for Annie Spindler, "a ‘rum runner’ that ran aground in 1922 during the Prohibition era."

In other recent Cape & Islands news, Brandon Baltzley and Laura Higgins-Baltzley have moved on from The 41-70 to open their own restaurant, and in the meantime, they’re holding pop-up dinners under the name The Buffalo Jump at Coonamessett Farm in Falmouth. Plus, Garde East opened in Martha’s Vineyard, courtesy of the Providence-based G Hospitality Group, which includes Bistro du Midi alum Robert Sisca. And elsewhere on the Vineyard, The Celestial Group (which owns 20byNine) recently opened Down Island, a "communal-style, casual fine dining restaurant."
