FoMu’s unstoppable wave of non-dairy ice cream will hit Fenway next, according to the agenda for a Boston licensing board hearing. The given address for the new ice cream shop is 201 Brookline Ave., which appears to be in or next to the Regal Cinemas at Landmark Center, and the space measures just 300 square feet. It will not have seats and could operate between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. if approved.
The first location of FoMu opened four years ago in Allston, followed by an expansion to Jamaica Plain in April 2013 and to the South End in May 2016. The shop is also currently popping up in Inman Square; that location will be open through July 2016, offering an abbreviated selection of flavors and toppings.
FoMu’s plant-based ice creams use coconut milk instead of dairy and come in flavors like malted cookie dough, chocolate pudding, avocado, and sweet lavender. The shops also serve vegan baked goods and a range of coffee and tea beverages. The new South End location features lounge seating, a kids’ nook, free wifi, and rotating artwork.
UPDATE, 11 a.m.: This location will be another pop-up, according to Boston Magazine, and it's slated to open in early July and last through September 30 in a portion of the former UFood Grill space next to the cinema. (It may last longer, depending on "how the stars align," owner Deena Jalal told Boston.)
UPDATE, 12:30 p.m.: According to a rep for FoMu, this location will serve a menu of "simple scoops of some of the most popular flavors," and it will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The debut will come right after July 4, if all goes according to plan.
UPDATE, 8/19/16: The pop-up may last through the end of 2016, not just through the end of September. It's currently being renewed on a month-to-month basis.
