A new brewery in Framingham is just around the corner from kicking off the brewing process. Exhibit ‘A’ Brewing Company, let by veteran brewer Matthew Steinberg, received its brewing license from the state treasurer and could start test batches as early as next week.
Steinberg took over the vacated Jack’s Abby brewing space in Framingham at 81 Morton St., with plans to produce in the 1,500-2,000 barrel range, as previously reported. At this point, the Exhibit ‘A’ taproom is progressing, its draft system is set up and the POS system is in place. The brewery received some of its glassware, and after tamping down a bit on certain technical aspects, it could start running test batches next week, according to Kelsey Roth, the brewery’s marketing and retail manager.
Steinberg plans to collaborate with Barrington Coffee Roasting Company to create some coffee beers, including a porter called "Sunday Paper." Other possible beers include a malty blond ale with a light coffee roast or an altbier-style copper ale made with a darker roast.
If all the work goes well, Exhibit ‘A’ could open mid-August, Roth told Eater.
