The Street welcomes its eighth pop-up tenant today as Rancatore's Ice Cream & Yogurt opens for the first day of its two-month-long residency in Chestnut Hill at 3 Boylston St. "The Pop-Up" space has previously played host to food concepts including Sweet Lydia's, Kane's Donuts, and OMG! Bagels.
Rancatore's has been around since 1985 and has locations in Belmont, Lexington, and, most recently, Newtonville. The shop will be open at The Street until August 21, serving up a long list of its ice cream, yogurt, and sorbet flavors, including favorites like bittersweet chocolate, black raspberry, tiger milk (with Frosted Flakes), chocolate mousse, and mango, among others.
Its creator, Joe Rancatore, comes from a family of ice cream connoisseurs: His brother Gus runs Toscanini's ice cream with their sister Mimi, and Joe worked there for four years when he first came to Boston, according to the Rancatore's website.
The Rancatore's ice cream pop-up comes just in time for summer and will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
