An established catering company based out of Peabody has plans to bring its barbecue mastery to a city north of Boston. According to the Chelsea Record, Big Pig BBQ is looking to nail down a location at the corner of Crescent and Eastern Avenues in Chelsea to establish a permanent home for its flavorful cuisine.

Two friends launched the full-service company in 2008 and have since grown the business, providing catered barbecue for parties, corporate events, and weddings. The Big Pig BBQ menu includes five main options: Backyard BBQ, Finger Lickin' BBQ, Southern Smoke, The Big Pig Roast, and the "Do it Yourselfer." The meat options for these range from a full pig to chicken, sirloin, pulled pork, smoked beef brisket, ribs, burgers, dogs, and more.

Big Pig also makes a number of sides, including cornbread, roasted potatoes, mac and cheese, baked beans, rice, corn on the cob, and assorted salads.

The proposal for the restaurant at 300 Eastern Ave. includes plans for renovation to accommodate a commercial kitchen, a retail store, office space, and dining space. The building is 3,000 square feet and the restaurant will be a barbecue-style market and deli, the Chelsea Record reported, featuring casual counter service and prepared take-home meals.

It's not the only local barbecue spot in the works: In Cambridge, Andy Husbands' Smoke Shop will open soon.
