A popular Chinatown spot for tasty pastries and beverages will open an outpost in Allston, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Beard Papa's will bring its Japanese-style cream puffs to 145 Brighton Ave. sometime this spring or summer.
The Japan-based bakery chain specializes in cream puffs and includes varieties such as green tea, cookies and cream, espresso, strawberry, dulce de leche, and vanilla, as well as green tea and chocolate fondant cakes and coffee, tea, and Japanese soda drinks. There are also seasonal rotating flavors of the cream-filled pastries.
The proposed Allston location could operate between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., if approved, and it may open between late May and early July, according to a rep. This is the first store to open following a Beard Papa's rebranding, so it will have a different interior look than the existing local shop, but the menu will be the same in Chinatown and Allston.
