A former pizza place in West Roxbury will soon be home to an entirely new concept. YellowBird Home Style Chicken is getting ready to open in the space at 239 Grove St., according to Universal Hub.
A records check on the restaurant indicate that Brian Martell is behind the place, which sports — you guessed it — a yellow chicken on its awning. Universal Hub reported that the menu features chicken cooked a handful of different ways, and that it will also serve options for non-chicken-eaters, including a burger and a fish sandwich.
The storefront used to be home to Pomodoro's — the place where a biting incident occurred in 2012 — and most recently Papa Giorgio's.
While the specific styles of chicken YellowBird will serve are unknown, the restaurant joins a burgeoning chicken scene in the Boston area: Southern Kin is getting ready to open in Somerville with Southern-style chicken and waffles, the Chicken and Rice Guys are going strong in Medford and Boston, and Rachel Klein promises to churn out some quality rotisserie chicken when she opens RFK Kitchen.
