The team at Bambara Kitchen & Bar will be down an executive chef on June 3 when Jay Silva hangs his hat to head to Winthrop where he will open his own restaurant, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
Silva has been at Bambara in East Cambridge for the better part of a decade. With this shift to Winthrop, he will aim to open a full-service restaurant and pizzeria. BRT reported on Silva's plans to make use of seasonal ingredients while offering casual dining complete with beer, wine, and cocktails, as well as entertainment. There will also be takeout and catering.
Marc Orfaly (The Beehive, Pigalle) will reportedly consult on back-of-house operations for Silva's new restaurant.
Bambara, located next to Hotel Marlowe on the edge of Kendall Square, most recently welcomed Daniel Gursha to the kitchen staff as its chef de cuisine. Gursha returned to the restaurant in January after a hiatus when he worked in Copenhagen, Paris, and New York.
