A Somerville ice cream shop is officially open for the season with plenty of flavors and sundae boats. Louie's Ice Cream, a decades-old fixture of summer in Somerville, announced its opening on Facebook last night, becoming the latest venue to jump on the train to warmer weather.
The seasonal shop, located at 193 Broadway in East Somerville, is known for its long list of ice cream flavors that get displayed on chalkboards outside, as well as its assorted sorbet and slushie flavors. The shop also serves banana boats, sundaes, frappes, floats, and ice cream sodas.
Louie's Ice Cream is open Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. The shop joins other recently opened (and reopened) ice cream spots like Gracie's Ice Cream, Tipping Cow, and more in providing the necessary summer treats to the neighborhood.
