A Cleveland Circle burrito place has closed its doors, and no, it's not the Cleveland Circle burrito place you'd think. Boloco shuttered the 18-year-old location (1940 Beacon St., Brighton) last Thursday, according to Universal Hub, with the company's CEO John Pepper making the announcement in an email to customers.

"The simple truth is that for the last 3-4 years we have lost money at Cleveland Circle — quite a bit of it, in fact," Pepper wrote.

He also noted an April Fools' Day article from a BC outlet that said Boloco had experienced a norovirus outbreak, much like its neighbor Chipotle, but this was untrue, and Pepper said it was unrelated to the closure. Employees from the Cleveland Circle Boloco will transfer to one of the other 16 locations in the area.

"Thank you to those of you who kept us going all of these years. While never fun to close a restaurant, its always a time to reflect back on all that it did for the community over nearly two decades and to thank all of the good people of that community who in turn supported those efforts," Pepper wrote.

Two other Boloco locations closed back in October: one on School Street in Downtown Crossing and one on Pearl Street in the Financial District. The company's remaining locations are scattered around the Boston area, plus a few in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island.
