After months of planning and preparation, European-based coffee shop Caffe Nero debuts its newest location in Fort Point today, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. This addition to the growing list of local outposts is located at 368 Congress St., just down the street from the chain's American headquarters.
An employee reached in Fort Point Thursday morning confirmed the store's opening, noting that its hours on its first day would go from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with free coffee today, too). Regular hours will be Monday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Jay Gentile, director of U.S. operations for Caffe Nero, previously told Eater the company had wanted to have a location close to the headquarters, which is also on Congress Street.
"All of our growth has always been organic and opportunistic," he said.
Caffe Nero is certainly growing. Its existing locations around Boston include Downtown Crossing, Jamaica Plain, Longwood, the South End, and Andover, and the company has announced plans to open other locations in Wellesley, Cambridge, and another in Downtown Crossing.
