A local Chinese restaurant plans to open another location in a suburb of Boston, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Sichuan Gourmet, which has locations in Billerica, Framingham, Brookline, and Sharon, will push north into Burlington with a new restaurant at the Burlington Square shopping center at 91 Middlesex Turnpike.
The restaurant is apparently awaiting final inspections and could open within the next few weeks. Sichuan Gourmet, in all of its iterations, is the work of partners Li Zhong and Liu Lijun, who are both from Chengdu in China's Sichuan province. They founded the restaurant in 2002 and are still expanding the concept.
Sichuan Gourmet features a number of appetizers, plus fish, chicken, beef, pork, vegetable, and noodle dishes. Some of the highlights from the Brookline menu include ma po tofu with minced pork, Sichuan wonton with spicy chili sauce, braised whole fish filet with pine nuts, and shredded duck with ginger and bamboo shoots.
UPDATE, 5/23/16: The restaurant is now open, according to a Facebook post from The Improper Bostonian's restaurant critic, MC Slim JB. "Damned exciting news," he writes.
