An ever-expanding European-style coffee chain has plans to open another new location in the Boston area, this time in Cambridge. Caffe Nero will open in Central Square, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, taking over the location at 589 Massachusetts Ave. near Chipotle.
Caffe Nero already has a number of locations in Greater Boston, including cafes in Downtown Crossing, Jamaica Plain, Longwood, the South End, and Andover, as well as three more coming to Wellesley, Fort Point, and yes, a second store for Downtown Crossing.
Caffe Nero goes before the Cambridge licensing commission on Monday to get approval for its Central Square plans. The cafe will seat 60 inside in dining and lounge areas, with an additional 14 on a seasonal patio. It will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There are a number of existing coffee shops in the area up and down Mass. Ave., including a Starbucks across the square, 1369 Coffee House, Dunkin' Donuts, Cafe Luna, Mariposa Bakery, and more.
