An Irish pub in Brookline has closed its doors after decades in business. According to a Chowhound user, the Corrib Pub at 201 Harvard St. bid farewell to its neighborhood of 30-plus years on March 31. Two other locations, apparently run by the same family, remain open in Brighton and West Roxbury, per a post on Reddit showing a photo of the final night at the Brookline pub.

The pub will be opening under new management as early as next week, according to one of its new owners, Marie Mackey. She and her business partner Marcella Walsh plan to keep the space as an Irish pub called Grainne O'Malley's.

"We're definitely looking to be a nice neighborhood pub people can go to and enjoy," Mackey told Eater.

She said they planned to start out pretty basic at first to get the place up and running, but eventually, the place will be more of a gastropub style. Mackey said she and Walsh have both worked in restaurants for about 30 years.

"We were looking for a restaurant, so we just started investigating all the listings, and this was actually the first one we saw," she said. "It has a nice feel to it."

The pair has had the restaurant about a week, and it is currently under renovation. Mackey said they hoped to open Grainne O'Malley's next week.
