One of several restaurants damaged in a fire last year will make its comeback later this month. Flat Top Johnny's officially bounces back from renovations on April 16 and will celebrate with a night of free pool and beer specials, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

The restaurant/bar and pool hall, along with its neighbors Beantowne Coffee House, The Blue Room, and Belly Wine Bar, suffered extensive smoke and water damage after a ventilation system fire in the complex last August.

The celebratory launch of Flat Top Johnny's 2.0 will feature Harpoon Brewery as a beer sponsor and will run from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on April 16 at 1 Kendall Sq., according to the official Facebook event page.

In addition to its tournament-sized pool tables, Flat Top Johnny's is known for its classic pub fare, including burgers and sandwiches, salads, and appetizers that range from hummus to "poutine south of the border," or fries topped with nacho fixings.

Beantowne Coffee has documented its recovery progress on Facebook but has not yet set a reopening date. The Blue Room likewise posted that it had "turned a corner" on the path to reopening, and Belly's most recent estimate was May, as of mid-February.
