After plenty of preparation and strategic design, Philadelphia coffee roaster La Colombe has opened its first Boston-area cafe near South Station. The cafe is in the base of the WeWork building at 745 Atlantic Ave. and features La Colombe's full lineup of coffees, including its Draft Latte and Pure Black cold brew — perfect for the upcoming warm weather.

La Colombe's co-founders JP Iberti and Todd Carmichael are in the midst of a steady expansion. They have existing coffee shops in Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, and Washington DC, and they have plans to open more in Boston and Miami.

Iberti played a key role in influencing the design of the Boston cafe, which includes a large ordering bar where baristas prepare the coffee, plus tables and seating along the length of the cafe.

In addition to La Colombe's lineup of specially roasted coffees, the cafe will serve food from Cafe Madeleine in the South End, including sandwiches, flatbreads, and pastries.

La Colombe is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
