A pizza explosion is underway in Worcester. Dacosta's Pizza Bakery could open at 40 Millbrook St. by early August, according to recent posts on its Facebook page.
The restaurant already has its specially made pizza oven, which was shipped over from Naples, Italy. The 6,000-pound behemoth will churn out pie after pie, adding to the already flourishing pizza scene in Worcester.
A little more than two miles away from Dacosta's sits another restaurant that specializes in Neapolitan pizza. Volturno is certified by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana, according to its website, and the restaurant serves up personal pizzas complemented with traditional toppings. The restaurant is planning an expansion to Framingham.
Additionally, a favorite Amherst pizza place started construction on its newest expansion, which is underway in Worcester. Antonio's Pizza by the Slice is building its restaurant at 268 Chandler St. from the ground up, with plans to open in May, as previously reported.
