There once was a glorious era when diners could waltz into a variety of Boston-area Old Country Buffet locations and stack their trays high, over and over again, with mountains of mac and cheese, soft dinner rolls, cornbread dressing, and more. Those days are done. The remaining Massachusetts location, which was in Watertown, is now closed, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. 90 other locations also closed around the country this week, according to WGRZ in Buffalo, NY.
Buffets LLC, which bought Old Country Buffet and several other similar buffet chains in August, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, and the locations that abruptly closed this week are liquidating their equipment in a nationwide auction.
