A restaurant specializing in Venezuelan cuisine is set to open on the North Shore this weekend. Los Chamos — which is a Venezuelan term for "kids" and often used as slang for "friends" — has its grand opening on March 12, according to a post on the restaurant's Instagram page.
The handful of posts on the page hint that the restaurant will serve smoothies in addition to an assortment of Venezuelan fare, which includes arepas, cachapas, and some authentic salsas.
Los Chamos is set to open at 227 Union St. in Lynn, with its "gran apertura" running from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday. A Lynn licensing board agenda indicates that Freddy Cuevas will serve as manager of the restaurant, which was formerly Argana Cafe, a Mediterranean-style restaurant.
An article in the Spanish-language El Planeta said the owners' goal with Los Chamos was to provide food and beverage that accurately represented Venezuelan cuisine and that they would import classic Venezuelan products.
