Another restaurant joins the fast-food scene in Allston this coming Monday. Five Guys Burger & Fries is finally taking over the long-vacant former Kelly's Roast Beef space at 1227 Commonwealth Ave., according to Boston Magazine.
The burger chain was founded in Virginia in 1986 and has 1,300 locations, including 13 other restaurants in Greater Boston. Its newest location in Allston will seat 35 in 1,890 square feet, and it will finally bring life to the corner of Commonwealth and Harvard Avenues. Kelly's Roast Beef closed in 2011, and a number of other restaurants vied for the space before Five Guys signed the lease last July, as previously reported.
The chain reportedly has two additional locations in the works for Massachusetts — one in Sutton and one in South Attleboro. It's known for its burgers and lengthy list of free toppings, plus its Five Guys and Cajun-style fries. Oh, and its peanuts. The Allston Five Guys will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
