It took a bit longer than planned, but Moldova Restaurant, a Moldovan restaurant, has set a date for its opening at 344 Watertown St. in Newton (formerly Maria di Napoli Ristorante) — April 1. The news is sure to delight the restaurant's nearly 3,000 Facebook fans, some of whom have been getting anxious. "We'll have a man on Mars before you open this restaurant," one fan posted on Facebook in February, prompting a flawless response from Moldova: "Thank you for your support! We are looking forward to seeing more people on Mars!"
But the day is really almost here, albeit with a limited menu to start. Moldova will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and reservations are encouraged; call (617) 916-5245.
As previously reported, the logo might look familiar to those who are familiar with the country of Moldova. "We have been granted rights to use this brand to advertise the restaurant and represent our country," Moldova Restaurant owner Artur Andronic told Eater in July 2015.
When Moldova Restaurant opens, diners will find dishes like plăcinte, a pie stuffed with cheese, potatoes, cabbage, pumpkin, or apples; zeamă, a chicken soup; cușma lui guguță, a cherry and chocolate dessert; and more.
