The Island Creek Oyster Bar and Row 34 team (Jeremy Sewall, Skip Bennett, Garrett Harker, and Shore Gregory) has its sights set on Cambridge's Harvard Square next. The yet-unnamed new project will open next winter at 2 Bennett St., the Conductor's Building.
A few years ago, a restaurant simply known as Conductor's Restaurant was slated for the space but never got off the ground. At one point, Hoffa's Swiss Alps Restaurant resided there; it closed about a decade ago. Built in 1912, the Conductor's Building is "the oldest surviving structure from the initial development of the subway in Cambridge," according to a 2007 video by Cambridge Community Television.
The new restaurant will be designed by Bentel & Bentel, a New York-based firm that also worked on Eleven Madison Park and Gramercy Tavern. No other details are available at this time, and the team declined to say whether this will be a brand new concept or another Row 34 or Island Creek Oyster Bar.
Island Creek Oyster Bar's Burlington expansion is also still in the works.
