Wow Barbecue first hit the streets almost three years ago as a truck peddling a simple menu of various meats on sticks. A year later, the team expanded to Malden with its first brick-and-mortar location, and tonight, the latest outpost softly opens in Brookline Village (320 Washington St.) Almost to the date, it's been a year since the new project first came about.
This location, called Wu Er, features an "authentic Beijing back-ally interior" and a "Chinese barbecue influenced fusion menu" with a "creative cocktail selection," according to a page on Eventbrite where interested diners can make reservations for tonight or tomorrow night (required). There's a 20% discount all week long as the restaurant gets into the swing of things.
While the Wow truck focuses on Chinese barbecue-style meat and vegetable skewers, the first restaurant has a larger menu with spicy pots and more. The team hasn't yet shared a menu for Wu Er.
Reservations are still available for most dinner time slots tonight as well as lunch and dinner tomorrow. The restaurant — located in the former Zen320 Sushi space — seats about 76 and received approval from Brookline to operate between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 2 a.m., although it's unclear if it will be staying open that late to start. Stay tuned for updates.
