Now that temperatures have solidly broken 70 degrees this year, it's time to think about patio season. Kendall Square's MexiCali Burrito Company was one restaurant leading the charge yesterday, opening their seasonal Cabana at 350 Kendall St., according to Universal Hub.
The Cabana, which is a little more than half a mile from MexiCali's main restaurant at 500 Technology Sq., is open on weekdays for breakfast and lunch, serving up a range of tacos, quesadillas, burritos, soups, and more, all in the style of the San Francisco Mission District. The Cabana offers various meat and seasonal vegetable fillings for its menu items, including grilled achiote citrus chicken, shredded barbacoa beef, and a daily vegetable, to name a few.
The family-owned restaurant first opened in 2008, with the Cabana following in June 2012. MexiCali emphasizes its selection of health-conscious menu items and notes on its Facebook page that all of its beans, rice, and soups are vegetarian friendly. The restaurant also embraces seasonality — if the early opening of the Cabana weren't already an indication — offering both daily and seasonal specials.
