Tatte Will Move Into the Harvard Square Panera Bread Space [UPDATED]

Panera recently invested in the local bakery.

Tatte Bakery and Cafe is already seeing the benefits of its new partnership with Panera Bread: The local spot will be moving into a now-closed Panera space in Harvard Square, adding to its existing five locations and opening sometime in the summer, reported.

Panera spokesperson Amanda Cardosi told that Panera was "thrilled to offer Tatte the opportunity to bring their unique brand and experience to this Harvard Square location later this summer."

The Panera closed yesterday, and the company apparently plans to offer former Harvard Square employees the chance to continue working at other Panera locations in the area. Students in the area expressed disappointment and woeful longing for the restaurant's coveted bread bowls.

Tatte will bring its breakfast sandwiches, salads, pastries, lunch dishes, and more to the area. It has other locations near Kendall Square, in Beacon Hill, and in Brookline, though that location is currently closed for renovations.

Update, 4:25 p.m.: Tatte's owner, Tzurit Or, confirmed in an email to Eater that Tatte will be moving into the Harvard Square Panera space. Here is what she had to say:

Tatte on Harvard square will be super hip and a cool place to hang out with friends, to get work [or homework] done or simply to chill with a great food, pastries and atmosphere. We are bringing all our great food and baked goods with us and a full brunch menu Friday - Saturday - Sunday!
Tatte Harvard square will also be the new home for our baking and cooking classes and will be the space for our bread production which will allow our customers an inside look into the bread and morning pastries production. This is very exciting for us and we are super excited to bring Tatte to Harvard Sq. a lot of work ahead of us.
