Have you continued to dream about Michael Schlow's burger since Radius closed? It has popped up a few times at special events since then, but after launching this Friday, February 12, it will be available every Thursday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Schlow's Latin American-inspired restaurant in Back Bay, Tico. It costs $19.
The new late-night menu, dubbed Nikkei, is aimed at fusing Peruvian and Japanese flavors, with dishes like deviled eggs with uni, chiles, and tempura bits; shrimp and octopus "sunonmo" with tigre de leche; and short rib gyoza with panca, sesame, and toasted onion. And then there's that burger, made with cheddar, crispy onions, and horseradish-black pepper sauce.
During the day, Tico's menu features a variety of ceviches, tacos, entrees cooked a la plancha, and small plates, such as a duck confit quesadilla; a mac and cheese with serrano ham and manchego; and risotto with clams and huitlacoche. There's also a burger (made with BLT salsa, jack cheese, and chipotle), but it's not the burger.
Tico also has a substantial tequila selection.
Food is served until 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and now 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, but the bar stays open until 2 a.m. every night (except Sunday, when the restaurant is closed).
