Snowstorm be damned, a cozy little juice shop opened its doors as planned this morning in Somerville's Union Square (23 Bow St.), and with pineapples, bananas, and plants dotting the counters, it almost feels like summer inside.
The Juice Union serves fresh juices ($5.45 - $8.45), smoothies ($4.45 - $7.45), and "b'nice cream bowls" ($6.95). The bowls feature bananas that are "whipped and transformed to a texture reminiscent of ice cream," according to the menu, and there are a few types available. Date Night, for example, is made with bananas, dates, cacao powder, and soymilk, and it's topped with strawberries, cacao nibs, and cashews. There are also a few types of granola and fruit snack bars available — KIND, BOLA, and That's It.
There's no seating at The Juice Union; grab a smoothie to go. It's open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
